Combined hosts Ukraine will be aspiring to build a consciousness at Euro 2012, but the probability are they will not glue around extended to do it.

The Ukrainians are making only their second appearance in a major tournament since independence in 1991, and getting out of a Group D consisting of France, England and Sweden looks like a big ask.

How They Qualified

Obviously, as joint hosts, Ukraine did not have to qualify for this tournament and have instead been participating in friendly matches over the past two years.

Trying to gauge a team’s ability from these matches is a difficult task, but there have been a couple of interesting friendlies in the past 24 months – against group foes France and Sweden.

Star Players

The big-name participant in the Ukrainian crease is previous AC Milan and Chelsea attacker Andriy Shevchenko. Though, the 35-year-old carry on to fight a constant back difficulty and has confessed himself that he will engage in recreation no part if he is not 100% fit.
